NOW, 'TIN KOSONG' IS BANNED IN ANWAR'S MALAYSIA??!

KUALA LUMPUR (Politics Now!) - OMG! It looks the little Napoleons in Malaysia's latest government have gone cuckoo - accusing, charging and blocking blogs, TikTok and various other forms of free speech even as PM Anwar portrays himself as a reformist to world richest man Elon Musk, whose X refuses to ban controversial posts - especially those of a political nature given that politics is a fireball with infinite faces and thus those who involved in it must be able to manage and accommodate countless views, or perish at the next ballot!

It looks like Mr Musk understands politics better than Anwar, whose motives and perhaps intellect as well must surely be questioned before Malaysia gets steamrolled into its next political disaster and investors' hopes for a saner and more politically mature government get zapped again!

Malaysia Chronicle (malaysia-chronicle.com), a pro-Pakatan old faithful that has risked jail, fines, MCMC raids, police interrogations and all sorts of threats from the previous Umno and Perikatan governments, is the latest blog to be served the most cavalier treatment by the current unity government that Anwar has unfortunately named as 'the Madani government'. It looks like going forward the word 'Madani' will be associated with knee-slapping jokes at best and a horror show of pure incompetence and sheer conceit by most.

Malaysia Chronicle, which was blocked during the height of the Najib administration's kleptocracy, was blocked again - since Tuesday the 19th of September 2023 - and according to a political source, those that surround the Communications Minister who is PKR's Fahmi Fadzil and Deputy Minister who is DAP's Teo Nie Ching, say 'they don't know anything about it but are defending their bosses blindly'.

Coming hot on the heels of DPM Zahid Hamidi's extremely controversial discharge from a massive number of corruption charges, the clampdown on free speech, social media, dissent and criticism is extremely alarming. It smacks of a sick will to cling to power whatever the circumstances and no matter what the costs to the country. It would not be unfair to say that there are few Malaysians left who respect either Anwar or his Madani government these days. These guys are now perceived by the public to be little better than the political charlatans that they once accused the Ismail Sabri, Muhyiddin Yassin and Najib Razak administrations of being!

On X this morning, this is what former Law Minister Mr Zaid Ibrahim wrote to defend his right to vary his support or intensify his critique of the government:

"I was hoping for a good weekend, but it will not be. Tomorrow, I will be questioned by Bukit Aman. Sedition, what else? With Sec 223 thrown in. Why can't they be more charitable to a harmless old man like me? I like to tweet. We have no time nor inclination for mischief, no time to incite or cause harm to anyone. Sometimes, we want to air our views to socialise and elucidate other viewpoints. Social media can be educational, too. We never ask them for favours, titles, or the chairmanship of agencies or GLCs. We never ask for DNAA. We only want a small space for ourselves to talk and think freely. Is that too much to ask?"

Indeed, nobody in Malaysia except for Zahid's family and supporters asked for DNAA! And nobody ever asked for a half-baked 'Madani' government either! Especially one that gives zero value to keeping election promises.
