HOW DIRTY IS DIRTY! - ANWAR REGIME, STUNG BY 'PELIWAT' EPISODE, SLAMMED FOR REVENGEFUL STRIKE AGAINST RADZI - 'THIS IS ASTOUNDING ...IT SUGGESTS THE SYSTEMATIC TARGETING & HOUNDING BY ENFORCEMENT BODIES OF POLITICAL OPPONENTS OF THE PM & HIS COALITION'

KUALA LUMPUR (Politics Now!) - It looks like the 'peliwat' or sodomist spat between PM Anwar Ibrahim and Bersatu MP Radzi Jidin has spun out of control.

Raising eyebrows is the sudden move by the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) to arrest Radzi's former political aide.

"It is irrational, unrealistic and laughable to suggest that the swift and sudden moves by MACC and Anwar’s political allies from Wednesday to Friday against Radzi are unconnected with the bitter spat with the PM on Tuesday," Sasha Lyna Abdul Latif, the Bersatu legal bureau deputy chief, said in a statement.

"This chronology is important and astounding. It suggests the systematic targeting and hounding by enforcement bodies of political opponents of the prime minister and his political coalition."

The Anwar regime has been seen as retaliating with vindictive and oppressive measures against critics including the media and blogs for not hushing or glossing up the 'bitter spat' to Anwar's favour. Radzi, the MP for Putrajaya, had told Parliament he was convinced Anwar was a sodomist.

The dig at Anwar's Achilles heel triggered not only heated response from Anwar himself but also from his cohort of lackeys within his government including the Speaker, the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission and other enforcement authorities including the MACC and the police.

Anwar was indeed convicted and jailed on 2 separate occasions for scandals involving sodomy, which is illegal in Malaysia.

"We urge the government of the day to stop this intimidation and fabrication against opposition MPs and to stop abusing its powers by acting in concert with its enforcement agencies to go after those who are not aligned with," said Sasha.

The incident was triggered when Radzi had mocked Anwar's explanation for DPM Zahid Hamidi discharge from massive corruption charges as glib. On the defensive and feeling the heat of public outrage over Zahid's discharge, Anwar had counter-accused Radzi of corruption during the time Bersatu was in the government. It then led to Radzi's 'peliwat' or sodomist remark.

According to Sasha, the spreading of messages online claiming Radzi was involved in corruption concerning books for pre-schoolers, among others has followed. The Malaysia Now news portal was also questioned and ordered to withdraw an article which had reported Razdi's 'sodomist' exchange with Anwar. The Malaysia Chronicle blog was blocked over an article that suggested Anwar was behaving like a 'Tin Kosong' or empty vessel.

“Anwar and his government must focus on the troubles and plight of the rakyat and create policies to make the rakyat’s life better, and not spend their time in unlawful plots to run down the opposition," Sasha said.

Radzi's former political secretary is under remand, which expires tomorrow. He was probed over an alleged RM80 million school book contract.

Radzi, who responded in a statement, said he and his wife were not involved with the printing of books nor the companies mentioned in the online messages accusing him of graft.
