Five PMs in six years, now another?

With less than three weeks to go before Sultan Ibrahim Sultan Iskandar of Johor ascends as the 17th Yang di-Pertuan Agong for a five-year term, Malaysia's political scene is heating up.

The country has seen five prime ministers in six years including Datuk Seri Najib Razak, Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad, Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin, Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob and Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.

Recent rumours suggest that Anwar's tenure as Prime Minister may be short-lived, with speculations of his potential ousting within the next 48 hours, just weeks after celebrating his Madani Government’s one year milestone.

These rumours originated from the so-called "Dubai Move."

The term "Dubai Move" came into the spotlight in late December following an anti-corruption operation in Kuala Lumpur involving Tun Daim Zainuddin, a well-known politician and businessman with ties to two-time premier Dr Mahathir.

Last week, Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi confirmed the existence of a meeting in Dubai including flight details of the attendees.

Reports indicate that at least two MPs from Anwar’s coalition attended this meeting.

Meet Thailand’s King Maha Vajiralongkorn: Owner of 38 aircraft, 300 cars. Another King Did Not Get What He Was Promised.

Well you can read about the Thai king here.

This post is actually about the Dubai Move. I heard one theory that the Dubai move was not in Dubai. The Dubai Move was or is done here. Yes a bunch of people did go to Dubai but that was a diversion.

The suggestion is the head count has already reached 123. If this is true then it is game over. It could be ex-X soon. (Dont I have a way with words).

Something borrowed and something blue,

something old and something new.

Two people told me that the "old" person is overflowing with anger towards ex-X. Words like "liar" were used. Why should anyone be surprised?  He is in the habit of promising anything and everything to anyone. But he did not deliver on any of the promises.

Here is some general advice - do not accept any promises, credit cards, cheques and certainly not post dated cheques. Either cash or pure gold bars - 999.99 purity.

With the old there will be the new. No promises have been made yet. Actually this time around NO PROMISES NEED TO BE MADE. The next hung situation is still far away. So no promises need to be made.  There is neither a quid nor a pro offered to make up a quid pro quo. It does not look like a new frontier - with new possibilities. It looks more like a new front - with snipers and booby traps. Lets see what happens.  Written by Syed Akbar Ali
